In 1997, I obtained my Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve
University.  While in law school, I competed on the Ault Mock Trial
Team and represented several indigent clients at law clinic.  I was
also chosen to be an articles editor for the Journal of International
Law.

Shortly after graduation, I began a two-year clerkship with Judge
Daniel B. Quillin at the Ninth District Court of Appeals in Akron.  I
spent that summer working full time and studying for the Ohio bar
exam, and was admitted to the practice of law in November 1997.

When Judge Quillin retired in 1998, Judge Donna J. Carr was
appointed to replace him and then was elected for a new term that
fall.  I continued to work for Judge Carr for the final year of my
clerkship.

In late 1998, my wife and I decided to move to California.  I spent that
winter working full time for Judge Carr and studying for the California
bar exam, and was admitted to the practice of law in California in
June 1999.

After we moved to California, I was hired by the Supreme Court of
California for a one-year clerkship in San Francisco.  I was assigned
to the criminal central staff, where I evaluated petitions for review in
criminal and juvenile delinquency cases, and drafted memos
explaining the issues, discussing the need for review, and
recommending a disposition.  Each week the central staff met with a
different Supreme Court Justice to review the petitions.

When the Supreme Court clerkship ended, I obtained permanent
employment as a staff attorney at the California Court of Appeal,
Fourth District, Division Two, in Riverside.  I began working on the
central staff, but eventually moved into the chambers of Justice Art W.
McKinster.

In 2005, my wife and I returned to Ohio in order to raise our children
closer to family.  After moving to the Columbus area, I accepted a
position with the Legislative Service Commission.  I was assigned to
the state and local government group, where I drafted and analyzed
legislation and provided research on a variety of topics affecting
state and local government, such as elections, home rule, and
eminent domain.  I also served as a staff member for various
legislative committees that covered state and local government
issues, including the 2006 Eminent Domain Task Force.

I currently reside in Orange Township, just north of Columbus, with my
wife, two sons, and a Newfoundland dog.  I currently serve on the
Orange Township Board of Zoning Appeals and I am a member of
the Delaware County Law Library Resources Board.  I am licensed to
practice law in Ohio, California, and the federal courts.  I am a
member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar
Association, the Delaware County Bar Association, and the
American Bar Association.
